Lead Architect

North West - Hybrid | £90,000 to £95,000k - bens 35k to 40k

Lead Architect – North West / Lancashire / Cheshire – Hybrid – 90k to 95k plus 20% bonus, car, excellent pension and benefits.


Lead Architect required to lead a solution architecture function to deliver a modern digital architecture. The ideal candidate will have strong people skills, some enterprise architecture and will set direction, provide architecture leadership on change initiatives and help deliver the company’s digital strategy.

As the Lead Architect you will be responsible for leading architects and working in collaboration with the Head of Architecture and Strategy to be jointly responsible for the enterprise architecture function including, governance processes as well as developing and maintaining enterprise architecture deliverables.

You will be accountable for the solution architecture function including partnering with analysts, engineers and third parties to design and assure enterprise level solutions across operational systems and non-operational systems.

As the Lead Architect you will also be accountable for developing and owning processes, policies and standards as they relate to architecture and design.

You will work with the Head of Enterprise Architecture and Strategy and the other architects to manage and continually improve the architecture and strategy function.

As the Lead Architect you will be accountable for development and implementation of enterprise architecture deliverables, such as business capability models, roadmaps, financial plans and strategies.

As the Lead architect you will have the opportunity to identify the impact of emerging industry and technology trends on the enterprise architecture, digitalisation strategy and solution designs.

To be successful in this role you will have as much experience as possible in following:

  • Experience managing or leading a team.
  • Experience in helping to mature a solution architecture function.
  • Experience working with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining architectural deliverables.
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions using enterprise level systems
  • Experience implementing and working within agile development environments
  • Experience in analysing and translating business, information and technology requirements into an architectural blueprint and related artefacts.
  • Experience of undertaking IT architectural assurance.
  • Excellent inter-personal and stakeholder management skills that influence at all levels of an organisation up to and including board level.
  • Knowledge of solution architecture design elements and integration methodologies and technologies.

Any knowledge of the following would be a bonus but is not essential:

Experience of developing and maintaining enterprise architecture governance and processes
Any knowledge of implementing and leading the adoption of an enterprise architecture tool
